Transport of powder to the gun is accomplished by local fluidization of a small fraction of the hopper content. A controllable pressure differential between the hopper content and the powder carrier gas stream moves the fluidized powder out of the hopper and to the gun. Increasing the pressure differential delivers higher powder feed rates. This method of feeding powders provides accurate and consistent feed rates for both continuous and start-stop operations and prevents powder segregation during operation.
